The Monterey Bay Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) is a program of the Monterey County Business Council (MCBC). Our primary service area is Monterey County, but we welcome prospective clients from other geographic regions within Central California.
The purpose of the Monterey Bay PTAC is to generate employment and improve the general economic condition of the Monterey Bay region by assisting small businesses in obtaining and performing under local, state and federal government contracts.
We provide procurement technical assistance to help companies in the selling of their products or services to the appropriate government agency by offering confidential counseling at no cost. The core of our procurement assistance program is counseling and education.
Ninety-three Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (PTACs)–with over 300 local offices–form a nationwide network of dedicated procurement professionals working to help local businesses compete successfully in the government marketplace. PTACs are the bridge between buyer and supplier, bringing to bear their knowledge of both government contracting and the capabilities of contractors to maximize fast, reliable service to our government with better quality and at lower costs.
The Monterey Bay PTAC is staffed with counselors experienced in government contracting and provide a wide range of services, including classes and seminars, individual counseling and easy access to bid opportunities, contract specifications, procurement histories, and other information necessary to successfully compete for government contracts. Our PTAC counselors have backgrounds in government acquisition and all receive ongoing training to keep pace with continually evolving acquisition procedures and policies.
The Monterey Bay PTAC is a member of the National Association of Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (APTAC), which provides a network allowing any PTAC counselor almost instant access to the expertise and experience of over 500 colleagues, as well as real-time information from government agencies regarding new requirements and initiatives. To identify PTACs in other states, please visit: www.aptac-us.org
The Monterey Bay PTAC is funded by the Monterey County Business Council, Department of Defense, City of Salinas, and in-kind support. The PTAC partners with government agencies, universities, community colleges, local economic development entities, small business development centers and other business programs or local institutions delivering services region-wide.
